   Metabolic Acidosis

The pH scale runs from 0-14 with 7.0 be a neutral pH and with a pH of 6.4 to 6.8 being the most suggested when considering your biological terrain first thing in the morning (urine & saliva) - it will change to alkaline numbers throughout the day with 7.0 - 7.8 being the norm a couple hours after eating.*

Causes Of Metabolic Acidosis

Uncoupling or derailment of the TCA or the electron transport, ox-phos systems.  This creates a buildup of acid intermediate metabolites that saturate the cell.*
Excessive ingestion of foods or liquids that through their oxidation create endogenous (within a cell or organism) acids.
Incomplete oxidative processes due to diminished or depleted enzymes (and their cofactors, trace minerals), oxygen and distorted pH.*
Consumption  of exogenous (outside an organ or part) acids.*
Diminished capacity of the kidneys to properly eliminate the metabolic acids that are normally formed in the body.
Stress reaction (phase 1 and phase2).*
Excessive loss of base from the body fluids through diarrhea, drugs and/or renal acidosis which causes an increase in the amount of HCO3 (carbon dioxide)  that is eliminated by the body.*
Diabetes Mellitus, where due to a lack of proper metabolic levels of insulin glucose metabolism is compromised.  This creates an increased lysis of fats which produce acetacetic acid which accumulates.*
Hypoxic (oxygen deficient) tissue creates anaerobic (without oxygen) metabolism, which produced increased concentrations of lactic and pyruvic acids.*
Diminished buffering capacity.  This is created by a lack of available minerals, and/or shift in hemoglobin-oxygen saturation index.*
 Intravenous administration of acids.*
Excess stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system.  This imbalance creates increased cellular metabolism and thereby increases the relative concentration of acid waste and end-products.
Liver damage or injury which could lead to diminished function of the urea cycle.*
Psyco-Social Stress.  Through psyconeurioimmunology* it has been proven to increase the sympathetic nervous system response and thereby produce elevated concentration of acids.*
* Study of the central nervous system, autonomic nervous system, endocrine system and immune system
